The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) has been awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Cancer Hospitals 2023. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list was announced on June 28th, 2023, and can currently be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
To provide patients and family members with a comprehensive resource for informed decision-making, Statista and Newsweek have partnered for the first time to award the leading cancer hospitals in the US. Three data sources were used for the evaluation:
- Nationwide Online Survey: Health care professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about oncology e.g., oncologists, hematologists, and oncology nurses were asked to recommend leading cancer hospitals in the US.
- Hospital Quality Metrics: Hospital quality metrics with a focus on indicators relevant to oncology care were considered.
- Results from Patient Surveys: Survey of patient experience during their hospitalization.
UTMC is ecstatic to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Cancer Hospitals 2023.
“This national recognition is a wonderful honor for UT Medical Center, our Cancer Institute and our team of outstanding cancer physicians and staff,” said John L. Bell, MD, Director of the Cancer Institute at UTMC. “This recognition speaks to the expertise, leadership and collaboration of over 250 clinicians, nurses and multidisciplinary support staff committed to delivering high-quality patient care.”
