COVID-19 Prevention and Resources

The University of Tennessee Medical Center is working around the clock to address the evolving COVID-19 impact on our region.

Prevention Methods

Most people who are infected, approximately 80 percent, will have a mild illness and recover. But it can be more severe for the elderly, the very young, or those whose immune systems are compromised. Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.

  • Abstain from touching your eyes, nose and mouth if your hands aren’t clean.

  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick.

  • Don’t share dishes, glasses, bedding and other household items if you’re sick.

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces you often touch.

  • Stay home from work, school and public areas if you’re sick.
