UT Medical Center Cancer Exercise Program
Nov 30, 2017
9am - 10am
UT Medical Center Fitness Center
Heart Lung Vascular Institute (building E), Suite 40
Knoxville, TN 37920
There is ample evidence that exercise is safe during and after cancer treatment. Individuals who have had a cancer diagnosis should engage in physical activity as long as it does not worsen symptoms or side effects.
This series of classes is designed to educate and empower cancer survivors to improve their own physical fitness in a safe environment that is led by an ACSM/ACS Certified Cancer Exercise Trainer.
- Over the course of the 8-weeks you will:
- Increase Strength and Endurance
- Improve Flexibility
- Work on Balance and Core Strength
- Learn How to Safely Exercise During and/or After Cancer Treatment
- Track Progress with a Pre and Post Program Fitness Evaluation and Personal Goal Setting; set up individually
Tuesday classes will have an educational segment during the first 15-minutes. Topics will include Exercise, Nutrition, Lymphedema, Integrative Health, Treatment Side Effects, and Support Services.
Class size is kept small, which allows each individual’s needs and specific cancer diagnosis to be addressed and appropriate exercise modifications given if needed.
Cost for the Cancer Exercise Program will be $40. Class size is limited.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a drop-in class. Attendance for this class is for the full eight weeks. To attend, you must register and set up your Pre-program Fitness Evaluation before Friday, July 7th. To register, fill out the form below, and someone will contact you to set up your evaluation. For questions, please contact the UT Medical Center Fitness Center at 865-305-3299.
