What does exceptional service mean? Ask Jason Shelton. Jason is employed by Lanier Parking Solutions and is an attendant based at The University of Tennessee Medical Center's Cancer Institute.
He will tell you that exceptional service comes down to people. “I care about everybody,” Shelton says. “I really feel for people. When I see them, I just want to make them feel better, help them forget about what they’re going through.”
Jason is often the first person that patients and their caregivers meet when coming to the Cancer Institute providing a warm greeting, directions and assistant with any transportation needs. Jason, a long-time professional welder who began working with Lanier Parking Solutions and at the Cancer Institute in September 2013, was one of 10 employees honored with Lanier’s Shining Star of the Year Award at a luncheon held last month at Atlanta’s Park Tavern.
Manager, Maggie Japinoski, stated “I have spent time with him at the Cancer Institute. People would walk through the door and greet him with a hug or high five.” Jason credits both his faith and his family for motivation. “I just have a big heart,” he says with a smile. “I feel like it is a big family here. I am honored to be part of the Cancer Institute.”
