Rebuilding lives after traumatic injury
The Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) is a community of patients and families like you who are looking to connect with one another and rebuild their lives after a traumatic injury. Joining this community can help ease the anxiety and frustration often experienced following a traumatic injury. Most of us have little experience with traumatic injuries, the accompanying hospitalization and resulting recovery that can be filled with uncertainty, anxiety and frustration.
UT Medical Center has partnered with American Trauma Society (ATS) to provide the programs and resources patients and families need to manage their recovery and improve their lives. The ATS website provides practical information on injuries and how they are treated and helps connect you with other survivors and their families as well as additional programs and services.
Snack & Chat
Snack & Chat has been temporarily discontinued due to COVID-19. We are still doing mobile Snack & Chat on Thursdays, so our trauma patients and their visitors can learn more about the emotional impact of trauma.

The Trauma Survivors Network at The University of Tennessee Medical Center will host monthly support group sessions. This is a general support group for trauma survivors. Support groups allow you to share your thoughts, concerns and hopes for the future with others facing similar challenges.
These sessions will be held from 6 pm – 7 pm on the first Tuesday of each month. Please call (865) 305-9970 for more information or email TSNCoordinator@utmck.edu
If Knox County Schools are closed or have early dismissal the day of the support group due to inclement weather then the group will be cancelled.
Peer Visitation: This program offers patients the opportunity to talk with a trained volunteer who has experienced the aftermath of a serious injury; offering the perspective of someone who has been there.
Support Groups: Peer support groups allow you to share your thoughts, concerns and hopes for the future with others facing similar challenges.
Snack & Chat: Traumatic injury impacts family and friends in many ways. Caregivers often deal with frustration, anger, guilt, fear, sadness, and the responsibility of caregiving. Here you will find support from families that have experienced this before.
NextSteps™: The NextSteps program is based on the principles of self-management. This approach to health recognizes that YOU play the most important role in your recovery. This class is free and available from the comfort of your home.
