Kim Currie Mason, Pharm.D.
Director, Department of Pharmacy
Dr. Mason is the Director of Pharmacy at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. She also has joint faculty appointments in The University of Tennessee Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy. In addition, Dr. Mason precepts PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents as part of the department’s ASHP-accredited residency programs in critical care, internal medicine, and pharmacotherapy. She has provided required and elective coursework in the areas of Drug Information, Medication Safety and Practice Management, and continues to teach third and fourth year pharmacy students about pharmacy administration.
Dr. Mason received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Mississippi and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency followed by a Critical Care/Nutrition Residency at UT Medical Center where she served as the organization’s first Chief Pharmacy Resident. After joining the staff at UT Medical Center, she served as the Drug Information Specialist and later became the first Medication Safety Specialist at UT Medical Center, managing the new Medication Safety Office now responsible for coordinating adverse drug event reporting, pharmacy performance improvement, and medication standards compliance.
As part of her interest in assuring overall patient safety, Dr. Mason has served for many years on The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine’s Institutional Review Board and became Chair of the IRB in June 2009. In 2014, she was asked to serve as Administrator for UTMC’s newly formed Office of Clinical Trials, partnering with sponsors all over the world to participate in cutting edge research. She is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, Tennessee Society of Health System Pharmacists, and was invited to serve on the Premier, Inc. National Pharmacy Committee. Dr. Mason and her husband reside in North Knoxville with their five children and enjoy leading contemporary music at their local church.
Amy B. Flatt, Pharm.D.
Associate Director, Department of Pharmacy
Dr. Flatt received her Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Tennessee Allied Health Sciences in 2003 and subsequently completed an American Society of Health System Pharmacists-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Following her residency, she practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist at the East Tennessee Heart Consultants Heart Failure Clinic before returning to the University of Tennessee Medical Center as a Lead Pharmacist in operations. During this time, Dr. Flatt facilitated various beta tests and implementation projects for technologies such as automated dispensing cabinets throughout the Medical Center. Dr. Flatt also served as the first Computerized Provider Order Entry and Systems Specialist for the Medical Center before assuming the role of Associate Director of Pharmacy in 2010.
Dr. Flatt oversees all inpatient operations, as well as purchasing and lead technical staff. She is an expert in strategies to mitigate institutional drug shortages and works closely with the medical staff on these and other initiatives. Dr. Flatt serves as the UT Medical Center Inpatient Pharmacy Pharmacist in Charge for the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy. She and her husband, who is also a pharmacist, live in Knoxville with their daughter and twin sons.
Barbara Eve Faircloth, Pharm.D., BCPS
Assistant Director, Department of Pharmacy
Dr. Faircloth is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. She is also an Assistant Professor with The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Faircloth was born and bred in the lovely state of New Jersey, where she received her Bachelor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy in May 1997. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and PGY2 Critical Care Residency at UT Medical Center, after which she practiced as the critical care medicine specialist and critical care residency program director.
In addition to her commitment to patient care and furthering the education of the future of our profession, Dr. Faircloth is a wife and mother of two wonderful boys.
Troy Rebert, DPh
Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Manager of University Pharmacy
Dr. Rebert is the Pharmacy Manager for University Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in May of 1998. Prior to the move to UT Medical Center, Dr. Rebert served as manager for chain and independent pharmacies in the greater Knoxville area.
In addition to his duties in the pharmacy, Dr. Rebert is very active in the Knoxville Track Club and currently serves on the Board of Directors.

Daniel B. Truelove, Pharm.D., BCPS (AQ-ID), BCACP, AAHIVP
Assistant Director of Pharmacy
Dr. Truelove is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at The University of Tennessee Medical Center with a focus in specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care services. He attended East Tennessee State University for undergraduate studies and received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Truelove completed his residency training at the University of Louisville Hospital, after which he practiced as an Infectious Diseases / HIV Specialist and Program Director for the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency. Dr. Truelove’s professional interests include immunology, virology, transition of care, and advancing the profession of pharmacy.
He is an avid sports fan who also enjoys hiking, music festivals, bourbon, cooking and movies.
