Welcome to The University of Tennessee Medical Center

Learn about our Mission and StandardsThe University of Tennessee Medical Center is the region’s only academic medical center, Magnet® recognized hospital and Level I Trauma Center.

The 581-bed hospital also is home of the region’s only dedicated Heart Hospital, only adult and pediatric transplant center, a Joint Commission/American Heart Association recognized Comprehensive Stroke Center, houses the region's only Level III private-room neonatal intensive care unit and serves as a regional perinatal center.

Our six Centers of Excellence provide comprehensive care to patients. The dedicated professionals at the medical center thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment, where expert commitment plays a critical role in the hospital’s ongoing success.

Due to a high volume of flu cases in the region, The University of Tennessee Medical Center is placing strict limitations on visits to the hospital in an effort to protect the health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff.

We are prohibiting visits to the medical center by anyone under the age of 12 and by anyone exhibiting signs of illness, with the exception of those seeking medical care. This is consistent with other local hospitals.
