Knoxville, Tennessee, July 19, 2023 – The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) is opening its first off-campus Emergency Department—Jamestown, Tennessee.

UTMC is proud to open this state-of-the-art facility with emergency and clinical services ready to serve Jamestown and the surrounding community. Located at 208 Central Avenue West, Jamestown, TN, the facility will consist of six exam rooms plus a trauma room for significant health issues like car accidents, heart attacks and strokes.

“One of our key strategic objectives is providing access to quality healthcare in rural communities, especially communities that are a long distance from major hospitals,” said James Shamiyeh, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at UTMC. “UTMC is proud to be able to address rural healthcare disparities in Fentress County by opening an emergency department in this community.”

The new 9,500-square-foot facility will offer imaging services, including CT, X-ray and Ultrasound. In addition, the facility will include an on-site lab for immediate results as well as space for a physician’s office.

This new Emergency Department will contribute to the continuum of care and range of medical services Fentress County residents need. Access to quality emergency healthcare in rural areas is critical when someone suffers a life-threatening emergency. The Emergency Department— Jamestown that UTMC is opening fills this void.
