My name is Marie (yes, I am the weird one that has it as a first name instead of the typical middle name). I'm a local from Oak Ridge, TN. I'm the stereotypical animal lover with 4 dogs and 1 cat. I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare in order to help others, so I initially became a nurse. I started as a nurse in 2014 on the oncology floor here at UT Medical Center and absolutely fell in love with cancer patients and helping them throughout their difficult journeys. I went back to school to become a nurse practitioner, but even after that I stayed working as a nurse on the floor for a couple years because I didn't want to leave these patients that I came to love so much. I finally went and acquired a nurse practitioner job as a family nurse practitioner in a family practice/walk-in clinic and although I learned a ton, I knew it wasn't where I wanted to be. I then learned about UT getting a stem cell transplant and cellular therapy group and knew that would be my absolute dream. I'm blessed to say that I got the job and I've now been here since February of 2022, and I've loved every second.
