May 15th is National Trauma Survivors Day and we celebrate the strength and resiliency of trauma survivors and those who have helped them on the road to recovery.
While volunteering with the American Eagle Foundation in September 2023, Terry suffered a severe injury, landing him in the hospital with a cervical spine fracture and spinal cord injury. "I landed on my right shoulder and head with the rest of my body stuck up in the air. I knew immediately it wasn’t good because I
couldn’t move anything," Terry recalls.
Under the care of Dr. James A. Killeffer, he underwent treatment to stabilize the fracture and relieve pressure on the spine. Despite the seriousness of his injury, Terry's recovery was relatively quick. After five days in the hospital and a week of rehabilitation, he returned to his passion for volunteering. Terry sees the experience as a wakeup call and is grateful to be back doing what he loves. Thanks for sharing your journey, Terry!
