The University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) has been awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list was announced earlier this year and can currently be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
Three data sources were used for the evaluation:
- Nationwide online survey: Healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes e.g., neonatal and perinatal doctors, nurses and midwives were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the US
- Medical KPIs on hospitals with a focus on indicators relevant to maternity care
- Results from patient surveys
Newsweek and Statista invited over 10,000 medical professionals to participate in the survey. Only 384 winners were recognized on the Best Maternity Hospitals 2023 list.
The University of Tennessee Medical Center is ecstatic to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023. “It’s an honor to be recognized as one of the best hospitals for maternity care,” said Dr. Kimberly Fortner, Vice President of Women and Infants Center of Excellence at UTMC. “This recognition reflects our entire expert maternity program, including providers in the hospital’s labor and delivery unit, our obstetricians and gynecologists, dedicated to delivering the highest level of comprehensive care to our patients.”
“We are proud of the high-quality and safe care we provide to new mothers and babies,” said Becki Morrison, Executive Director, Women and Infants at UTMC. “This recognition by Newsweek honors the compassionate care our team provides daily and reflects our commitment to excellence and personalized care.”
