Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic disease that causes an abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. HCM can manifest differently in patients and can cause a variety of symptoms and conditions that require specialized evaluation and treatment modalities.
Our HCM team is multidisciplinary to ensure we provide excellent individualized care to our patients.

The Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville is the first comprehensive center in East Tennessee for patients with HCM and was established in 2022. As the first HCM center in our region, we strive to provide excellent patient care through collaboration to ensure the highest level of advanced imaging and treatments are available for our patients to expertly diagnose and treat HCM. Our group of dedicated clinicals will provide individualized tailored care as well as risk stratification for sudden cardiac death and screening for family members.
