Planned Giving

Planned Giving is a critical component of philanthropy that allows individuals to make a positive and lasting impact at the medical center. This form of giving provides a powerful means to honor your legacy through generosity and compassion for future generations.
Through a planned gift you can ensure your support will continue beyond your lifetime, providing sustained funding for programs and initiatives at the medical center that you believe in the most. It is also worth noting that, depending on the size of the charitable contribution, it may not affect the inheritance that beneficiaries receive, and may even increase it. In addition to gifts of cash, stocks and securities may be gifted too.
One example of an impactful planned giving donor is the late Ann Orr. Ms. Orr served as a nursing administrator at the medical center and later established two funds through a blended cash and planned gift. To honor her late son, Ann established The Robert Affel Alzheimer’s Disease Patient Assistance Fund, which provides assistance and resources for patients and families with dementia. Additionally, she established The Alverna (Ann) Orr Nursing Education Fund, which assists current medical center team members seeking a Find meaning, live with purpose, leave a legacy. BS in Nursing. Through this blended gift, Ms. Orr’s legacy continues to make an impact on the lives of our patients, families and team members.
We remain grateful to those, like Ms. Orr, who have considered the medical center as part of their planned giving. Individuals who commit to a planned gift for the future benefitting the medical center or the UT Graduate School of Medicine are recognized for their special commitment as members of the Bernard E. Bernstein Society. Find out how your legacy can be part of something greater by contacting one of our gift officers in the Office of Philanthropy at [email protected] or 865-305-6611.
