As the Medical Director of GI for Kids, PLLC, I am committed to the belief that all children should have access to excellent healthcare, including all pediatric sub-specialties. Our clinic has an open-door policy and we try to accommodate all patients in a timely manner. Prevention is an important focus of the practice. Treating children with gastroenterology diseases is our top priority, while prevention is the motivation for our comprehensive staff serving these patients. I became interested in making a difference in children’s health when, at 12 years of age, I experienced a severe illness. Throughout my career I have served as Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the University of Kentucky and then as Acting Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Tulane University. My wife, Dr. Salwa Alkhoury, is a primary care pediatrician at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. We have two children, Mark, age 11, and Laura, age 14. I love spending time with my family and gardening, and I feel blessed to live in this area.
