Acupuncture

An acupuncturists needles a patient's hand

Overview

Acupuncture, very simply put, is the process of stimulating the body for purposes of healing and correction of injury or dysfunction.  The information that the acupuncturist can use the most is what you are actually experiencing (verses labels to name your condition.) The selection of the needling sites are based on the presentation of the patient at the time of the procedure.  Acupuncture doesn’t make any distinction between mental-emotional or physical concerns – since these all occur within the same physical body.  If you ever have any concerns about the selected procedure(s), we can work with your unique situation to make it a positive experience for you.

Acupressure

Acupressure is the stimulation of the acupuncture points without needles.  There are many models for approaching various concerns with the use of acupressure.  One body-mind approach, called Tapas Acupressure Technique or TAT® is a particularly accessible system.

TCM Herbs

TCM herbs are unique combinations of herbal substances, or formulations.  Some formulas widely used today have been medicinally applied literally for hundreds of years.  There are also hundreds of different formulas which is why we use the same herbal pharmacy as Cleveland clinic for compounding.  The acupuncturist selects an appropriate formula for you based on a wholistic model, or pattern of your overall complete health picture.

Cupping

This treatment allows the Acupuncturist to put special cups on one’s skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
