Overview
At the Thoracic Oncology Service, doctors from University Heart Surgeons and University Pulmonary & Critical Care work together to provide a unique specialty service for patients.
Our Services
Formerly known as UT Chest Service, our practice is designed to evaluate and manage patients with abnormal chest X-rays showing:
- A nodule
- A mass
- Unresolved pneumonia
- Lung cancer
- Esophageal cancer
We can help patients with the highest risk factors for lung cancer by providing screenings for early detection.
Physician appointments include evaluation, physical exam, laboratory testing and diagnostic studies leading to diagnosis and a plan of care.
Thoracic Oncology Service Can Help
Cases are presented weekly to a group of specialists in the fields of radiology, pathology, interventional pulmonology, cardiothoracic surgery, radiation therapy and medical oncology.
All of this comes together to benefit the patient with improved quality of life through timely access for diagnosis and treatment. Coordination of care between specialists is maximized to provide quality and cost effective care.
